FRUIT VALUES DECLINE

HEAVY AUSTRALIAN SUPPLIES. GLUT ON LONDON MARKET. Advice received yesterday by the Department of Agriculture from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, London, states that the fruit market is glutted and that prices are declining. Australian supplies during the current fortnight are reported to total 1,000,000 cases. The Northumberland, Port Napier and Middlesex consignments are in the market. Current prices are:—Granny Smith 12s to 16s per case; Jonathan, Delicious, Dunn’s Favourite, Sturmer, Ballarat Seedling, Cleopatra, Lord Wolseley, Statesman, Dougherty, Rymer, 9s to Us; others, 8s to 10s. The Port Wellington consignment of i pears is stated to be very wasty, with 1 many unsaleable. Current prices for | sound fruit were: Winter Nelis 12s 6d to 15s per case, Winter Cole 13s, wasty | fruit 4s to 10s. The Otago fruit generally opened up in good condition.
