The view that Rugby football was gaining in popularity in England was expressed by Lieutenant-Colonel R. Wilson, of Lancashire, formerly of the Indian Army, who arrived by the Remuera from London on Sunday. Coltonel Wilson is keenly interested in Rugby and he played for Lancashire. He said British teams may not have shown to advantage against the All Blacks and South Africans in recent years, but the overseas teams had shown them the value of combination. There was little doubt that the standard of play in England was improving greatly. Colonei Wilson, who is accompanied by his wife, is on a holiday visit and will spend about two months in New Zealand.
