BED COSTS AND FEES. The following is a comparative return showing the Waipukurau Hospital costs and fees received per occupied bed for the following periods:— (a) Final year of amalgamated Dannevirke and Waipawa districts 1924-25; (b) final year before reorganisation of administrative and Waipukurau Hospital staffs, 1926-27; (c) year ended March 31, 1932:— (A) Year 1924-25. —Average number of occupied beds, 50.2; cost per occupied bed, £l7l 10/-; fees received per occupied bed, £69 6/-; nett cost per occupied bed, £lO2 4/-. (B) Year 1926-27.—52.8; £lB7 6/-; £37 10/-; £149 16/-. (C) 1931-32.—83.54; £142 12/-; £B7 18/-; £54 14/-. As the Bathbone Maternity Hospital has not been open over the whole of this period a similar return cannot be given, but the following return will show the position for the years ended March 31, 1931 and 1931 as against the latest Dominion average, i.e., March 31, 1931: —Average number of occupied beds, (1931-32) 4.09, (1930-31) 3.8, Dominion average (1930-31) ; cost per occupied bed, £249 6/-, £283 18/-, £350 4/-; fees received per occupied bed, £147 8/-, £142 18/-, £lll 12/-; nett cost per occupied bed, £lOl 18/-, £l4l, £238 12/-. LOCAL BODY LEVIES. The estimates for 1932-33 have not yet been finalised but if any alteration is made it will be to reduce the figures.
