CORDIAL RELATIONS

HITLER AND HINDENBURG MENACE OF DICTATORSHIP. THREATS OF SECESSION FROM Tjjn XUHCH. . London, June 6. The “Daily Express’ ” Berlin correspondent states that relations between the Hitlerites and President Hindenburg are now so excellent that it is doubtful if Hitler will wish the fieldmarshall to retire, but if the Presidency becomes vacant the ex-Crown Prince is likely to be a candidate. The ex-Kaiscr has hitherto vetoed the scheme, but may permit the Crown Prince to stand on some future occasion. Twenty thousand Hitler storm troops propose to celebrate the lifting of the ban against them by parading the streets in uniform and carrying flaming torches, the objective being Hindenburg’s palace, in order to give the President an ovation. A Berlin message states that the Socialists regard the attitude of the new Government as a declaration of war aiming at the abolition of the Republic and the restoration to power of the Junkers, who are ready to go to any extremes in Bavaria, Wurtemburg and Baden. The menace of a dictatorship headed by the ex-Crown Prince and Schleichter or Hitler has caused threats of secession from the Reich. The Hitlerites have an absolute majority in the elections for the new Diet in Mecklenburg-Schwerin, pollir\g nearly 50 per cent of the votes, mostly at the expense of the Bourgeois parties.
