At the Christchurch Poultry Show Mr William Hart, of Hastings, was awarded the following prizes for modern game bantams: —Black-red cock, 2; black-red hen, 1 and 2; black-red cockerel, 2 and 3; black-red pullet, 2; pile cock, “Earthquake Bill,’’ .1 and 2; pile hen, 1 and 3; duckwing cock, 1 and 2; duckwing hen, 1; duckwing cockerel, I and 2. Selling class: Blackred pullet, 1; challenge stakes, 2. Mr Hart also won the American Bantam Club’s gold medal for best display. Although the wind blew directly off the snow this morning, it proved to be no deterrent to the hundreds of people who visited town for the express purpose of participating in the great clearance of remnants and oddments, marked for sale at half tho usual prices, at Westerman and Co.’s, Hastings. Being bargain Tuesday, also, special values were likewise offering in all departments and these made a very distinct impression and enthusiastic business resulted. Very special bargains in men’s and boys’ wear are advertised throughout this issue for clearance tomorrow (Wednesday).
