NAPIER PRIMARY SCHOOLS
DISPOSAL OF VARIOUS CLASSES. TWO EXTRA ROOMS AT CENTRAL. The disposal of the various classes at the different schools in Napier is now engaging the attention of the educational authorities, but until certain arrangements arc finished it is not possible to make a definite announcement in this connectien. The portion of the Central School which was not entirely damaged by the earthquake containing cloak and teachers’ rooms has been reconstructed and it may be possible to have two extra class rooms available there by the time the schools reopen next week. A tend er was also accepted yesterday, subject to the completion of certain formalities, for the erection of two additional rooms at the Central School, these being intended for use, when they are erected, by the infants. They will be constructed in wood and the tender is for £lOOl. There wore in all 16 tenders received for the work. The portion, of the old Main School in Clive Square which is intended for use as a dental clinic Ims been reconditioned, and it is expected that the .Health Department will take over and commence their work there at an earlv date.
