Local stables will Lo represented by Shenanikicl.i, Laconic, Sir Spear, Baskier, and Autumn Dawn. Maiden Handicap.—Foulwind, in the last few starts has shown improvement. Shenanikida left here in forward condition and should give a good account of herself on the trip. Kalmuk has plaeings in this class of race. Park Acre has failed of late in his essays. Lackston was not in it at Ashhurst. Chief Marionette failed at Waipukurau, but reports say that Mrs. Mac donald’s two-year-old Chief Ruler — Dolly Fisher filly is galloping very well at Awapuui. Chief Clerk, from the same stable, is a long time winning a race. Midnight Echo, from Woodville, on form, does not appeal. Morrath should have won a similar event at Foxton when placed second. Autumn Dawn, another localite, is passed over in favour of others. The favourites on the machine may be Chief Marionette, Shenanikida and Morrath. Ballance High Weight Handicap, 7 furlongs.—Mah-jra, in this class, stands out on form, but as he has not raced since August he may not be forward enough to lump his 11.9. Royal Opera has failed of late, but as a rule races well on this track. Royal Songster has gone off somewhat. ’ Freehold may surprise. Blacksmith won twice at Manawatu. High Heather, on the flat, is past his best. Shootist does not appeal overmuch. Mahora, Freehold and Royal Opera may be in demand on the totalisator. Konini Hack Handicap, 6f furlongs.— Lady Rene has been racing well without winning. Arvada goes fast and has beer, consistent of late. False Scent, on his Foxton form, enters calculations. Golden Shadow was made favourite the other day, but failed to weigh in. Chief Clerk is in the Maiden, but at Dannevirkc he ran third in the Maiden and then, with a r. ee between, came out and ran second to False Scent. Acrelict is a new one. The favourites may be Lady Rene, Arvada and False Scent. Pahiatua Cup, li miles.—The Swell appears out of form. Cluny, down to his own class again, should appeal. He ran a fair race in the Wellington Cup for ten furlongs. Royal Game does not pay to follow. Rory Mor won the two High Weights at Hastings, but on Ashhurst Cup form will need to improve. Pahu, of late, has failed. Chief Cook is another that appears to have lost form. Arajean is a dangerous lightweight. Jayson won at Trentham. Tun bridge, the hurdler, may be looking for the flags. The favourites on the machine may be Cluny, Arajean and Jayson. Hamua Hack, 8} furlongs.— Manawatu ran second to Retract at Trentham. Thrasher appeals. Earthquake we want none of in this district. Fallow has not won a race for ages. Spearopa appeals only on the distance. Manawatu, Thrasher and Spearopa may be entrusted with most support. Makuri Hack, 6} furlongs.—Lady Rene is again engaged and may prefer this event. Baskier is a little on the big side in consequence of the casing up he had after his wire fence accident last month. Patearoa is in winning form. Gold Sand failed at Wellington after doing so well on the West Coast (5.1.). Priscilla Verne, since winning the Maiden at Dannevirke, has not been heard of to advantage. Leyland has not raced since breaking a blood vessel at Hastings last .Tune. Patearoa, Gold Sand and Lady Bene look like being the favourites. President’s Handicap. — Acora, on Ashhurst running, will be in great demand, despite the extra poundage. Souchong failed at Ashhurst in a hack race. Statuary will soon be one of the considerations. Dainty Ways went well down the Coast. False Scent has a habit of getting beaten in a hack race and then coming out to annex the open. Acora, Statuary and False Scent may be the favourites. Eketahuna Hack, 7 furlongs.—Derry Bell has not yet come back to her spring form, but at Ashhurst showed an obvious improvement. Green Patch should do better than of late. Laconic may not be quite forward enough. Earthquake is again engaged. Lady Ronald ran so poorly ut Waipukurau and Hastings that a win does not appear likely. Acrospire has disappointed of late, but should do better this time. Golden Area has a list of also starteds to gaze on. Sir Spear, on his running the two days at Hastings, has to be considered.
