WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

THE KERERU BRANCH. The monthly meeting of the Kereru branch of the Women’s Institute was held on Saturday, December 5. Miss B. Anderson (president) presided over quite a good attendance of members. There were also present several visitors. A most interesting address was given by Mrs H. Baird (Hastings), her subject being “My travels in Scotland”. A description of the exhibition of handicrafts at Dannevirke was given by Mrs Johnston and greatly enjoyed by all. A “bring and buy” stall was held, and a competition arranged by the president for the best use made of one shilling’s 'worth of wool was won by Mrs M Averill. Mrs C. Averill securing second prize Afternoon tea having been partaken of, a most pleasant afternoon was closed by the singing of the National Anthem.
