WATER SPEED RECORD

ANOTHER 25 MILES FASTER. HOPES FOR MISS ENGLAND HI. British Official Wireless Service. Rugby, Dec. 8. Lord Wakefield, sponsor of previous efforts to maintain Great Britain’s speed supremacy on wafer, has decided to recondition the successful speedboat Miss England 11. and invite tenders for Miss England 111., to be built within four months. Kaye Don will pilot the new boat. Lord Wakefield has been assured that a new boat could be constructed to travel at least 25 miles an hour faster than the present record of 110 miles. The power units will be two Bolls Boyce engines similar to those used in the winning Schneider Trophy seaplane, developing in all 5000 horsepower, or 1200 horsepower more than those fitted in Miss England 11. The new boat will be sent in April to Lake Garda, Northern Italy, for trials and will be entered for the Gabriele d’Annunzio Trophy. Later she will be sent to the United States to compete with Commodore Gar Wood and possibly other entrants for the British International Trophy.
