DOUBT REMAINS IN ONLY ONE SBAT. HUTT’S RECORD VOTE. Real doubt as to the outcome now remains in only one of the electorates, namely, Lyttelton, where Mr J. McCombs, Labour, is still uncertain of lus return to Parliament. The official returns are coming to hand rapidly, and it is expected that the last will be forwarded to the Chief Electoral Office by the end of the week or by the beginning of next week at the latest. All tho official returns for the Wellington seats wer e received yesterday. In Wellington Central Mr P. Fraser, Labour, has increased his majority by 164. The allocation of absentee and other votes has resulted in Mr R. Semple, Labour, suffering a slight reverse in Wellington East, and his majority has been reduced by 95 to 593. Mr C. H. Chapman. Labour, has increased his majority for Wellington North by 70, to 1061. Mr R. McKean, Labour, dropped 122 on the official count in Wellington South, but his majority is 2659. In Wellington Suburbs, Mr R. A. Wright, Coalition, picked up considerably on the count, and his majority was increased by 257. to 2570. A record poll for New Zealand for any one man was secured by Mr W. Nash Labour, in Hutt, where he obtained 9187 votes, and his amended majority stands at 2823. The voting was very close in Rangitikei, where Mr J. T. Hogan, Independent, was defeated by Mr A. Stuart, Coalition, by only 13 votes. Th e provisional count gave Mr Sutart a majority of 114. There was also some doubt about the final result in Chalmers, where Mr A. E. Ansell, Coaltition, had a majority of 183 on the provisional count with 555 absentee and other votes to come. He has been returned with a majority of 172. In Dunedin West, the Hon. W. Downie Stewart, Coalition, improved his position to win the seat by 924 votes. ROTORUA. C. H. Clinkard (C.U.) .... 3117 A. F.
