Last Thursday night at the residence of Mr and Mrs F. Phelan, Lucknow street, Wairoa, a social evening was tendered to Miss N. Pomfret on the occasion of her approaching marriage to Mr J. Rosenberg, Hastings. The young people enjoyed themselves with games, competitions and music, and after supper Mr Phelan asked the mother of the bride-to-be to accept a box of gifts for use in the kitchen of the new home. These were handed over by Miss MacMillan, Marton. Mr Rosenberg thanked the donors and Mr and Mrs Phelan for the very pleasant evening spent.
