It is impossible to fix any definite date for the completion of the recount of the voting in the Rotorua electorate at the general election. Good progress haa been made in checking the rolls, and the registrar is ahead of the returns from some of the distant polling booths. This means tnat the recount of votes can proceed expeditiously as soon as all of the papers are in hand. Absentee postal votes will not be touched until the count of the ordinary votes has been completed. It is anticipated that the final result may be announced on Friday next, but the registrar is unable to give any assurance on the matter. Both parties, the supporters of Mr C. H. Clmkard (Coalition United! and those of Mr A. F. Moneur (Labour), are anxiously ticking off absentee supporters, but despite Mr CSinkard's small lead Labour supporter* entertain great hopes of victory.
