STOCK VALUES

STORTFORD LODGE SALE BETTER QUALITY CATTLE. GOOD SHEEP ENTRY. An average yarding of 150 cattle was penned in the beef section at Stortford Lodge to-day, the quality being superior to the last two weeks. Prime handy weight ox beef showed a slight improvement in price, competition being well sustained for prime cattle. The sale had been proceeding for three-quarters of an hour Wore any prime ox beef was offered, the draw for position in the sale being responsible. A large number of plain cows from dairy herds were included in the cow and heifer section, dry weather, no doubt, causing dairy fanners to reduce their stock to a number compatible with present feed conditions. Some very attractive Polled Angus heifers were sold during the sale, competition being very firm in this class of beef. Drafts of bullocks were sold on account of Messrs Jas. Macfarlane, G. N. Pharazyn and R. Harding. A heavy P.A. bullock sold on account of Mr. Jas. Macfarlane realised tho best price of the sale, £9 2/-. A good quality draft of P.A. heifers was sold ou account Mr. Geo. Neilsen. Prime medium weight ox beef realised 20/-, heavy weights being slightly cheaper per hundred. Prime heifer beef sold at 17/6 per hundred, cows being from 14/- to 16/-. Buyers looked rather askance at low grade dairy vealcrs, vendors being rewarded with as low a price as 1/- per head, which would hardly remunerate them for their trouble of delivering at the sale FAT CATTLE.
