OBITUARY

MRS. JESSIE LAW. Severing an association with Palmerston North of 28 years, Mrs Jessie Law passed away at her residence, “Willowbank”, Palmerston North on Monday morning at the age of 67 years. Although six months ago the late Mrs Law became ill, she continued actively to participate in the management of “Willowbank” private hotel, with which her name had been associated since first she came to Palmerston North in 1903. Born in Dunedin, deceased was the eldest daughter of the late Mr Andrew Marshall, of Naseby, Central Otago. She came to Palmerston North with her husband, the late Mr Samuel Law, who predeceased her ten years ago. The late Mrs Law was a woman of strong personality whose wide sympathies and capacity’ for understanding won for her a wide circle of friends. She made many firm friendships, both in her business and private circles, and there are many who will mourn her passing. More recently her practical sympathy was extended in generous measure to a large number of refugees in the Hawke’s Bay earthquake. Surviving members of the late Mrs Law’s family are as follow: Mesdames W. Davis (Ranfurly). G. A. Evans (Otaki), G. A. Blundell (Palmerston North), C. L. Brice (Invercargill) and W. M. Duncan (Apiti), and Messrs R. E. Law (Palmerston North), Arthur Law and Eric Law (Dannevirke). There are also 15 grandchildren.
