INCREASE FOR FOUR MONTHS. CHEESE GRADINGS BETTER. Wellington, December 8. Satisfactory evidence of increased production in the dairying industry is contained in the grading figures of the Dairy Division, Department of Agriculture, for November. A converson of the figures into butterfat equivalent shows that, for the four months of the season to November 30, there has been an increase of 3.85 per cent, in butterfat. production, compared with the corresponding period of tho 1930-31 season. Butter gradings for the four months show an increase of 7.36 per cent. There has been a marked improvement in the cheese figures. The gradings of cheese for the first quarter of the current season showed a decrease of 21.61 per cent, as compared with the corresponding quarter of last season; but. for the four months the gradings show a decrease of only 9.66 per cent. Th c figures of the Dairy Division show that, tho salted butter graded for November, 1931, was 14,331 tons, and tho unsnlted 254 tons, u total of 14,585 tons, compared with 12,692 tons salted unit 578 tons unsnlted, a total of 13,450 tons for November of last year, nn increase of 7.71 per cent. For tho four months ended November, 1931, tho respective quantities were 37,294 tons, mid 812 tons a total of 38,106 tons wmpurml with 34,264 tons and 1987 tens, u total ot 35,491 tons for the corresponding period of thc preceding season, an increase of 7.36 per cent. Tho elioese graded for November 1931, comprised: White 8589 tons, coloured 3832 tons, n total of 12,111 tons, compared with 8-103 tons white and 373(1 tons coloured, n total of .12 139 tons fur November, 1930, mi increase of •1.5,8 per cent. Tho quantities for the four months ended November, 1931, were;- -White 10,421 tuns, coloured 8607 tons, a total of 25,028 tons, compared with 18,534 tons white, and 9813 tons coloured n total of 27,447 tons for tho corresponding period of the prcccd ing season, a decrease of 9.66 per cent.
