BEEF DEMAND IMPROVING. BETTER INQUIRY FOR EWES. Lamb market: New Zealand old season ’s lamb stocks are now small with fair demand for best grades, but market generally depressed owing to large supplies of Australian and South American lamb landing this month. Mutton market: Wethers unchanged with trade slow. Ewes, slightly better inquiry. Beef market: Prices easier, but demand improving. New Zealand porker pigs: Prices lower owing to large supplies of Home-killed selling at low prices. The above report was received on Saturday by the Meat Board from its London office, which advises that the following arc the approximate average prices realised for the week ended December 4. based on actual transactions of wholesale quantities of the dcscrip tions of meat mentioned and are for representative parcels of the goods offering during the week, being for business done on the basis of delivered to Smithfield market and/or ex London stores.
