BOYS LEAVING SCHOOL

PROBLEM OF FINDING WORK. APPEAL TO EMPLOYERS. An earnest appeal to all employers who could possibly manage it to give employment to boys leaving school at the end of this year was made to Napier Rotarians yesterday by Mr. W. T. Foster, the headmaster of the Napier Boys’ High School. He thought that even if employers could employ boys as junior clerks at a very low wage it would be better than allowing them to remain idle around the town. He fully realised, however, that many employers were bound down to the terms of their respective awards regarding additions to their staffs. In view of the fact that there would bo over GO boys leaving school at the end of this year. Mr. Foster emphasised the seriousness of tho position. He had written letters to the various local bodies, all of whom were doing what they could to find employment. The matter was discussed by the Associated Chambers of Commerce at )Vellington, recently, as a result of which tho Napier Chamber had formed a commi'ttee to devise ways and means to solve the problem.
