POTATOES AT £22,400 A TON
What is claimed to be a record price for a new seedling potato has been received by Messrs M’Gill and Smith, Ayr, the price of £lO pbr lb. being obtained for seedling No. 42821, which in this year’s trials at Alloway Mill was earlier than Epicure and produced a bigger crop. Our tamo statistician says this works out at the fancy price of £22,400 per ton. The new seedling is oblong in shape, shallow in the eye, and of splendid eating quality. But who would want to eat £lO worth of shallow-eyed spuds?
