TE MATA PARK
CONSTRUCTION OF ROAD. A .POPULAR .SPOT. Good progress is being made with the work of constructing a road to the Peak and Te Mata Park which work is being done by the Te Mata Domain Board. Owing to the funds of the board being limited, little progress can now be expected with the work, which is expected to cost £6OO to complete. The matter was before the H.B. County Council to-day, when it was agreed to forego the cost of supervision charges incurred by the board. Cr. T. Mason Chambers said that it was surprising to see the large number of people who visited the park on holidays and Sundays. Cr. N. P. Ericksen stated that a large number of visitors to Hawke’s Bay looked forward with special interest to a visit to the park, and he was confident that as time went on, and with improvements being made, it would become increasingly popular.
