WEDDING

BRUSTAD—CLIFFORD The marriage was solemnised quietly on Wednesday at 14 Garden Road, Fendalton, the home of Mr Walter Clifford, of Mary Lucy Aroha, youngest daughter of Mr Walter Clifford and the late Mrs Clifford, and Alf Christoffer, son of Mr and Mrs Askar Brustad, Hamar, Norway. The Rev. Father J. Cullen officiated. The rooms were profusely decorated with bowls of Iceland poppies, violets, winter coses, white prunus blossom and daisies. The bride, who was given away by her father, wore an attractive longsleeved frock of pervenche blue needlerun lace over blue crepe de chine. The fitting bodice was daintily pin-tucked at the waist, and the skirt, cut in diagonal flares, fell in graceful folds to the ankle. Her wide-brimmed felt hat toned with her frock and was trimmed with a narrow blue ribbon, and she carried a posy of forget-me-nots and heather, the national flower of Norway. The bride was attended by her sister, Mrs I. Hilton, as matron of honour. She wore an ankle-length frock of floral ninon, patterned in daffodil yellow and black flowers. The fullyflared skirt and fitting bodice were finished with a narrow belt. Her wide-brimmed hat was of lime-green felt, with an underbrim of green tulle. Dr. F. H. McDowall, of Massey College, Palmerston North, attended the bridegroom as best man, and Messrs J. S. Neville, R. Norman and B. Douglas were ushers. A reception was held afterward in a marquee erected on the lawn. Bowls of Iceland poppies, violets, palms and native foliage made a bright show. Mr Clifford received the guests, assisted by his daughter, Mrs Hilton. Lady Clifford, aunt of the bride, wore a smart black cloth costume, a black and white blouse, and a black straw hat. Mrs Bruce Douglas, cousin of the bride, wore a floral ninon frock in tunings of green and red, and a pimento red straw hat to tone. Mrs George Macdonald, aunt of the bride, wore a navy crepe de chine frock patterned in wMte, and a fawn straw hat. When Mr and Mrs Alf Brustad left on their wedding tour, the latter wore a smartly-tailored navy gossamer tweed suit flecked with white, and a navy felt and straw hat with leather trimming.

ANDERSON—HEYWARD A very pretty wedding took place in the Takapau Presbyterian Church on Wednesday afternoon, when the contracting parties were Constance Eileen, second daughter of Mr and Mrs Hugh Heyward, of Hastings, and William H. Anderson, eldest son of Mr and Mrs W. Anderson of Takapau. The bride was given away by her father. The bridesmaid was Miss Isabel Heyward, sister of the bride, while Mr J. L. Anderson, brother of the bridegroom, was best man. The bride was dressed in an ivory satin gown, with veil and orange blossom, with bouquet. The bridesmaid was dressed in gold satin gowh, with hat to match. She also carried a bouquet. The ceremoney was performed by the Rev. J. M. Bates, M.A., with Mr G. Hivald at the organ. The church was very nicely decorated by the Misses Keegan, and was filled to overflowing. The invited guests were entertained to a wedding breakfast by the parents of the bride at the residence of Mr and Mrs A. G. Parker, of Otawhao, Takapau. The young couple left by car in the early afternoon on their honeymoon.
