AGENT’S FAILURE
CREDITORS OF W. H. EDWARDS. DISCHARGE TO BE FACILITATED At a meeting, held yesterday, of ’he creditors in the bankrupt estate of Wallace Alfred Edwards, it was decided on the motion of Mr Hartshorn, that bankrupt’s discharge be given every facility. Questioned by the Official Assignee 'Mr G. G. Chisholm', Edwards said that he had been engaged by Newcombe, Ltd., but had terminated that engagement early tn May last through n dispute over the insurance ageney. He was at present working for J. T. McDonald, Ltd., land agents, on a commission basis, and rented a house in Auckland, where he lived with his wife and one child. The furniture in the house belonged to his wife. During the past few months he had been living on money received from his mother. In his personal statement Edwards said that, prior to the earthquake, he was in business as a land agent, and, although business was quiet, he had sufficient coming in to keep him going, and would have pulled through. All his assets were destroyed during the earthquake. He had no furniture or assets other tlian book-debts. He was at present doing agency work in Auckland, and his income was scarcely sufficient to provide for his family. He regretted that he was unable to make any offer to his creditors.
