HORSES FOR FARM WORK

A GROWING SHORTAGE. At a special meeting of the Hawke’s Bay Provincial Executive of the New Zealitnd Farmers’ Union held yesterday and presided over by the president, Mr. R. E. Talbot, the growing shortage .of suitable horses for farm work in Hawke’s Bay came up for discussion. It was suggested that the union assist farmers by endeavouring to get fees for service reduced and a proposal was made that the union should subsidise one or two good stallions m tho Hawke’s Bay district With a view to bringing this about. It was decided to advertise with a view to getting some indication of the number of mares which would he forthcoming at a fee of £4 4/- to the farmer who would iequire to be a member of the union, before the matter could bo taken further.
