STOCK SALE NOTES

CENTRAL HAWKE’S BAY. At the Waipukurau sale yesterday there was a very poor demand fo> nous of prime bullocks and several oens were passed at the hammer. A good line of 1500 two-tooth wethers were offered on account of Hotere Station and the first run out of 1000 were sold to a local buvei for 1174. the balance being sold to a Manawatu buyer at 11/2. It was refreshing to note that a local r>ri 8toralist was in a position to outbid nu outside operator and keep a good line of sheep in our own district. The number of sheep being killed weekly in the three local works must run into many thousands, and this must bo relieving the nressure on the grass enabling local farmers to replace. which they have been unable to do for some time. A line of Corriedale cross ewes with lamb’ ex Kereru were sold at 3/H all counted. The ewes were small and in low condition and the lambs wer of tho same description, both havir had a rough time during the sprir Several pens of ewes from the san district realised from 4/4 to 6/1V
