"THE WIPERS TIMES”
There can bo little doubt that “The Wipers Times” (Eveleigh Nash and Grayson) will live long after most of the other war books are dead. This collection of the magazine* which were written and printed practically in tho trenches is a war document of first-rate importance. More than any other book it discloses the most important side of the British soldier’s character—that indomitable spirit which could make fun of unspeakable conditions, and which in the end carried the army to victory. The humour is, of course, now tinged with pathos, but it serves as a fine reply to some recent war novels. The book is edited by Lieut.Colonel F. J. Roberts, assisted by Major J. H. Pearson, and Lord Plumer contributes a preface.
