AN EGGLESS CAKE
With eggs at their present high price many a housewife will be glad to hear of this economical eggless cake recipe:— ’ Take one cup of soft brown sugar, one cup of stoned raisins, five small teaspoons of baking powder, one teaspoon of ground ginger, three ounces of butter, 1} cups of water, two cups of flour, one teaspoon of grated nutmeg and half a teaspoon of suet. Place the sugar, water, butter, raisins', suet and spice in a saueenan and boil for two minutes. When cool, add sifted flour, baking nowder. and mix well. Bake in two buttered shallow tins for half an hour in a moderate oven. The mixture can be .baked in one tin. but will then require longer cooking.
