The Shettleston Division of Glasgow by-election to fill the vacancy caused by the resignation of the Rt. Hon. John Wheatley, Minister of Health resulted :— Macgovern (Labour) 10,699 Templeton (Conservative) .. 10,303 Monicol (Scottish Nationalist) 2,527 Saklatvala (Communist) .... 1,459 At the last general election (1929) the polling was: Rt. Hon. J. Wheatlev (Lab.), 19,594; H. J. Moss (Cons) 12.870.
