HAVELOCK NORTH
SCHOOL COMMITTEE MEETING. The usual monthly meeting of the Havelock North School Committee was held on Thursday evening. Present: Messrs. J. Heenan (chairman), Leicester, Houghton, Estaugh, Ferguson, Coombes and Miliei. Tlie average attendance for the month was 216, and the roll number 239A sub-committee, and also a visiting committee, were appointed to go into th J matter of a bicycle shed, the cost of which is to be subsidised by the Education Board £1 for £l. Permission was granted the Havelock Basketball Club (late Huias) to plav matches at the school courts. Hie visiting committee for the ensuing month is Messrs. Leicester, Ferguson, Estaugh and Heenan. Accounts amounting to £ll 11/4 were passed for payment. Arrangements for the annual school bail were discussed, and August Bth was suggested as a possible date. A sub-committee was appointed to deal with the matter in conjunction with the headmaster. A very pleasing function took place at. the usual weekly meeting of the Havelock North Giri Guide Company yesterday afternoon. Ihe occas'on being a farewell visit oi the District Commissioner, Mrs. Denton Tanner. During the meeting two new guides were enrolled, and several proficiency badges presented. As tho Commissioner left the hall the Guides formed a guard of honour with their signalling flags. This concluded a very unique little ceremony. The Havelock North Girl Guides and Bov Scouts will hold a church par ade to-morrow morning
