GAME AT WAIROA
HASTINGS-NAPIER DEFEATED. SAM GEMMELL BCOBEB TWO TRIES. ( [Special to the "Tribune.” Walroa, June 28. The return match between Wairoa and Hastings-Napier was played here this afternoon in fine weather and before a good crowd. In a great game ■Wairoa defeated the Combined by 11 points to nil. The first spell saw Bam Gemmell score two good tries and within a few minutes after the interval Baird crossed as the result of a fine run following a passing bout. Bam Smith converted. Up to this stage Wairoa had had the best of the struggle, which was essentially of a forward nature though exceptionally fast. The Combined then showed their true form, end for the remainder of the game they hammered desperately hard at the home line, but could not find a weakness. For the Combined "Tut” Geddis, Jury Thompson, McNeil. Hassett and McCormick all played well. The bpst of Wairoa were the two Gemmells, Sam and Johnny, the two Smiths, Sam and Piki and Baird.
