WEARING THIN
THE LITERARY POSE IN BOXING A LAW WANTED. Under his own hand and seal, Max Schincling now claims to be a great reader of Schopenhauer, Nietzsche, Bernard Shaw and so on (writes John Kecran in the “New York Times.”) Itsn’t it terrible the way these pugilists are taking all the deepest books out of the libraries? There ought to be a law! Ono of the nice things about Jack Sharkey is that, as far as is known, he never read a book. If he did, 1)0 kept it to himself, which isn’t a bad idea. The literary pose in puglistie circles is being worn just a bit thin. Popular favour will swing to the firft fdir-to-middling fighter, who boasts that he can’t read or write.
