“PURE, CLEAN AND HONEST." VICE-REGAL PRAISE. “New Zealand is extremely fortunate in her Press,” said the Governor-General, Lord Bledisloe, at the Wellington Y.M.C.A., on Tuesday evening, when the anniversary of the founding of the institution in London was celebrated. “During tho last 20 years I have travelled in almost every country, and I have fored tho impression that there is no more well-inforiued, no purer nor more enlightened Press than is to be found in New Zealand. That I hope aud believe is a case of supply and demand. Such a Press is an enormously valuable asset to a country, and the ministers of your churches should be thankful that it is so. As the representative of His Majesty in this Dominion, it is gratifying to be able to say that your Press is pure, clean and honest, and in showing the way to progress is pointing upwards rather than downwards. “I have a burning desire during my period of office in this country to see an advance made in all things that the Y.M.C.A. stands for, and, as far as we can help, you will have ] not only our entire sympathy, but also our active support,” '
