2Z9 HASTINGS

NEW BROADCASTING STATION. OPENED LAST EVENING. After an exhaustive series of tests over a period of some weeks, Messrs. A. Simmonds andi Co., through their radio expert, Mr. Paul Barcham, have finally perfected a new broadcasting 3‘ation for Hastings. A call sign has been allotted and Hastings will now be known to the radio world as 2ZT station. ' Tests were carried out at 7 o’clock .vesteiday evening and the result was most gratifying, so much so that the new station was considered quite ready for its official opening, and at 8 o’clock this was introduced with a full programme of gramophone music. Listeners-in who were expecting the station to be opened some time this week must have been delighted with the result. The music came through wonderfully clearly and the reception was almost perfect. To local radio enthusiasts this new station marks a milestone in the progress of wireless in Hastings. When, through static or other reasons they are unable to tune in to outsido stations there will always bo a concert on Mondays and Thursdays from 7 to 10 p.m. for their benefit. Great credit must be given to Messrs. A. Simmonds and Co., for their initiative in constructing the new station and to the radio expert, Mr. Barcham.
