AT DANCE HAULS AND CABARETS. LICENSING BODIES’ POWERS. The Hastings Borough Council’s attention was drawn by the Grand Lodge International Order of Good Templars last evening to the following opinion given to a deputation some months ago by Sir T. Al. Wilford, when ho was Alinister of Justice “That all councils who issue licenses for dance halls and cabarets have already the power to control the drinking evil there by making it a, condition of the issue of such license that intoxicating liquors shall not be allowed in such places for consumption, and that provision could be made for the cancelling of any license where a breach of such condition was proved.’* The Tiodge stated that young men and women, and boys and girls, attending these places needed such protection. The matter was referred to the Mayor to bring licfore tho committee for :i subsequent report at the next meeting of the council.
