MATTERS IMPORTANT.

(To the Editor.) Sir, —Despite the fact of Mr. Lowe's previous statement that the N.Z. Labour Party may be seen, heard and questioned, etc., etc., he now clearly gives us to understand that anyone who dares to seek the truth or even ask pertinent questions is probably a subject for a specialist, and his general mental condition is suffering from a clouded vision, the result of a distorted liver, for which he lias graciously prescribed a fruit diet direct 'from his orchard. May I again request Mr. Lowe to understand that I am searching for the truth, and not for an advertisement for his orchard? Mr. Lowe may, to the best of his ability, endeavour to crush the truth by illtimed sarcasm, or by constantly sidestepping questions submitted. He may also endeavour to wriggle out of the difficulty of giving a plain, honest statement by a contemptuous attempt at being humourous.' The hypocrisy of this political propaganda sickeus one tb death, and surely one who knows and understands the Labour party policy throughout, is entitled to ask questions without being subjected to the sweetness of their socialism. Now Sir. I would like to understand if this so-called socialism aS preached to a susceptible public for the sole purpose of hiring them into a false sense of security is a myth or a reality. I would also like to know whether those Labour officials who preach this doctrine would like the opportunity of putting it into practice. Would Mr. Lowe bo so good as to give mo a nice billet on his beautiful orchard, paying me union wages irrespective of my productive ability? Will Mr. Lowe or any onO member or officer of the Alliance of Labour equip mo with the necessary, enabling mo to compete with fit mon? Under Labour Socialism a partially disabled person cannot work for less than union wages, but his productive ability falls far short by a corresponding amount. Yet he is asked to compete on the Labour market against fit men. Being a Labour official and employing the best labour the country can produce, Im may think that it is only consistent with Labour Socialism to pile the cripples on io someone else. And the sooner these Labour officials take off their coats and work with their hands and not their wind-bags, the sooner the country will progress. In conclusion, Sir, 1 may state that Mr. Lowe and his colleagues may fool some people all the time and all the people some of the time, but he cannot fool all the people all the time,; therefore there is no occasion to be annoyed.—Yours etc., J.S.H. P.S.—lf Mr Lowe is prepared to employ me under their own union rules I shall be prepared to start at a moment’s notice. Christian charity should practice what it preaches.— J.S.H. Hastings, Juno 12.
