MEETING HELD AT NAPIER. A meeting of the Hawke’s Bay A. and P. Society was held in Napier today, Mr. IL H. Tod presiding over a good attendance of members of the executive committee. The secretary of the Royal Agricultural Society advised that Their Excellencies Lord and Lady Bledisloe had been invited to the Royal Show to be held at Hastings. A further letter was received from the secretary of the society advising that all train arrangements for stock and travelling public would be undertaken by him. An offer was received from Mr. A. B. Williams of a cup for most points to be won outright at the Royal Show in the open draught section.—Mr. Williams to be thanked for his offer, which was heartily accepted. Permission was asked by the Hastings Jersey Breeders’ Club to hold the annual Jersey sale on the showgrounds on the same terms as last year.—Granted, the rates to be charged being 2/6 per head for grade cattle and two-year-old stud cattle and 5/- per head for stud cattle over two years old. The Wellington Alsation Sheep Dog Club wrote expressing rgret at the committee’s decision as regards Alsatian dogs, and hoped that the committee had no intention of taking such a drastic action. Protests against the committee’s decision to prohibit the further exhibition of Alsation dogs at the society’s shows also came from the Hawke’s Bay Kennel Club and Mrs D. Humphries. —Matter referred to the Royal Agricultural Society for an opinion.— Members were strongly of the opinion that the society should be absolved from any responsibility in the event of mishap. Miss Madge Rathbone wrote suggesting that a class be included in the nedlework section for art embroidery work at tho Spring Show, for which she was willing to donate a first prize and a second prize.— Agreed to; Miss Rathbone to be thanked for her offer. Grants were marie tn each of the Hastings and Takapan Ploughing Match Clubs of £lO, and £5 os to the Pataugat;> Club.
