HOCKEY
WEDNESDAY COMPETITIONS.
In continuance of the mid-week hockey competitions in Hastings the following games were played at Cornwall Park yesterday afternoon:— United Gold v .United White, 4 all: This was a snappy, interesting game all the way through and some sparkling hockey was played. Scorers for United Gold were Fitzmaurice (4) and for United Gold Jones (1) and Boag (3). Messrs. French and Shaftky controlled the game.
Karori v. Waimarama, 3—2: This was also a fast and interesting game and the most spectacular seen this season. Karori played without a goal-keeper and made it very hard for the native team, who were often penalised for offside. Scorers for Karori were Hayes (2) and Grenside (1) and for Waimarama W’ilson (2). Messrs. Greaves and Lewis controlled the game. Huia defaulted to Diamond It.
