CITIZENS’ COMMITTEE MELTING. BUSINESS DEALT WITH. The opening meeting for tbo H'3o- - season of the citizens’ committee of the Hastings Citizens’ Band was held in the bandroom, Warren street, last night; present, His Worship tho Mayor (Mr G. F. Roach) and Councillor Henderson, and Messrs Tonkin, Blaekert, Unwin (2), Coleman, Watt, Brooker, Bennison, Berry, Thomas and Bryant. Apologies were received from Cr. Donovan and Mr F. Young. Mr F. J. Tonkin was unanimously elected chairman and Mr B. J. Unwin secretary for the ensuing year. Accounts amounting to £22 ids 8d were passed for payment. It was suggested by Mr Bennison that some recognition should be given to bandsman giving long, continual service to the band. After discussion it was proposed by Cr. Henderson and seconded by Mr Berry that a gold medal be presented to bandsmen giving 20 years’ service to tho band. This was carried unanimously. Mr G. F. Roach brought up the subject of playing in tho different Parks, and it was finally decided to distribute tho twelve subsidy concerts between Cornwall Park, Queen’s Square and Ebbitt Park. It was decided that a supply of new music be procured. The conductor is to select tho music required. It was decided that a committee consisting of the chairman, secretary, treasurer, conductor and Mr Bennison lie set up to consider prices fur letting of hall. The business ended with a hearty vote of thanks to the chair.
