A TRIPLE DEAD HEAT IN LAST RACE. BIG HANDICAP TO HYDE PARK. pukekohe, March 8. The Franklin Racing Club’s Annual Meeting was held on Saturday in fine but dull weather. There was a record attendance and the course was in splendid order. The totalisator handled £31,499, against £32,296 last year. Late results:— Waiuaku Hack Handicap, 6 furlongs.—3 Ourajong, 7.13 (Wiggins) 1, 4 Tetrachite 2, 1 On, Top 3. Also ran: 5 Big Bertha, 6 Carl Iden, 4 Parfait Amour (bracketed with Totracliite), 7 Maurienna, 2 Treasury, 8 Rangikaha. Won by half a length. Time, 1.15 4-5. Franklin Handicap, 1J mile—l Mr N. Cunningham’s Hyde Park, 8.0 (R. McTavish) 1,2 Messrs Roulston Bros.’ Royal Doulton, 8.2 (L. Manson) 2, 4 Mr R. D. Walker’s Desert Glow, 7.10 (L. Dulieu) 3. Going along the back Royal Doulton made up ground and was lying handy when heads were turned for home. In a great finish Hyde Park withstood Royal Doulton’s challenge to win by half a length, third horse a similar distance away. Transformer was fourth. Time, 2.10 2-5. Buckland Hack Handicap, 7 furlongs and 22 yards 9 Carlaris, 8.2 (R. Ha'll), 1; 3 Sir Mond 2, 5 Big Hertha 3. Also ran; 4 Page JBoy, 1 Aggressive, 6 Neil, 2 Rose Willonyx, 8 Little Gift, (fell), 12 Odin (fell), 7 Fairy Belle, 11 Temperature.. 10 Intent. Won by a neck. Time, 1.13 2-5. About two furlongs from home Aggressive, who was piloting, fell qpd broke a leg, Little Gift and Odin coming down. The respective riders, R. S. Bagby and Chote, escaped injury. Aggressive was destroyed. The stewards held an inquiry and found that the occurrence was accidental.

Pukekohe Handicap, 7 furlongs and 23 yards—l Vali, 8.5 (Bagby), 2 Gemlight, 7.11 (McTavish), and 6 Respirator, 7.0 (Parsons), triple deadheat, 1. Imperial Prince was fourth. FINIS AT FLEMINGTON

PHAR LAP BY 20 LENGTHS. IN RECORD TIME. [United Press Association—By CableCopyright.! Melbourne, March 8. The weather was dull and threatening for the concluding day of the Flemington races. The attendance was good. The Rossendale—Humility colt Uriah Heep was prominent always and beat the fast-finishing Rigadoon in the two-year-old Carmichael Stakes. He cost 800 guineas as a yearling aud won at Sandown recently. He is owned by a bookmaker, Mr. Wallace Mitchell.

The New Zealander Phar Lap led all the way in the King’s Plate. He had a half-furlong advantage at one stag© and won pulling up. He has had seven wins and two thirds in the last nine starts and has now won approximately £9OOO in stakes. Nightlark led early in the Steeplechase, but Seafit took charge at the last fence and won comfortably. Nightlark was tired. Seafit has been a consistent performer at Flemington.

Spanish Galleon was prominent throughout and beat the fast-finish-ing Fission in the Leonard Stakes. Her owner. Mr. Pearce, had won the race previously with Lady Thrill. They were both trained by Fred Foulsham. Spanish Galleon had been unlucky in the Newmarket, striking trouble at the start.

Leadight was third early and finished well on the rails in the Northcote Handicap and won in the last stride. His rider. Parr, gave a brilliant exhibition. He had scored with Uriah Heep early in the afternoon.

Glenanton was fourth early and won the Farewell Hanidcap nicely. He is owned and trained in Adelaide. He galloped well prior to the Newmarket, nut went slightly amiss and had to be scratched for that event. Hebrus has had three successive seconds at the meeting.

Carmichael Stakes, 7 furlongs, for Two-year-olds.—Uriah Heep 7.2 (A. Parr) 1, Rigadoon 7.12 (J. Wenn) 2, Axinus 7.10 (W. Elliott) 3. Sixteen starters. Won by a neck, third one and a-half lengths away. Income was fourth. Time, Imin. 26}secs.

King's Plate, 2 miles, w.f.a—Phar Lap 7.11 (W. Elliott) 1, Second Wind 8.11 (A. Wilson) 2, Lineage 7,11 (F. Dempsey) 3. Five starters. Won by twenty lengths, third three lengths away Mondioga was fourth and Some Quality last. Time, 3mins. 25secs., a race record.

Autumn Steeples.— Seafit 12.5 (T. Butler) 1. Merauki 10.7 (W. Foley) 2, Nightlark 11.8 (J. McMahon) 3. Seven starters. Won by five lengths, third ten lengths away. Glentronie was fourth. Cobbon fell. The time, 4mins. 56secs., knocked six seconds off the course record.

Time, Imin. 38lsecs. The stipendiary stewards announced at Flemington that Lord Bounty, winner of the Pines Hurdle Race on the first day of the meeting, had been disqualified for a breach of Rule 67a. which debars the wife of a bookmaker from entering or starting a horse. His trainer, S. Murphy, was fined £5O. The decision affects the stakes only.

J. Pike had five wins at the meeting, A. Parr three wins, Ashley Reed and AV. Elliott two wins each. These are the most successful jockeys at the fixture.

FORFEITS AND GENERAL ENTRIES.

The Australian Jockey Club issues a reminder that those owners who wish to escape further liability in respect of the the Doncaster Handicap, the Sydney Cup, the Sires’ Produce Stakes, the Champagn ■ ( Stakes, and the St. Leger, to be mi. at next month’s Randwick meeting, and also of the Liverpool Handicap .and Warwick Autumn Cup, to be run at Warwick Farm on the preceding Saturday, must declare forfeit hy 4 p.m. on Monday, 24th March. Up to the same time general entries will be taken for both meetings. Forfeits may be declared and entries made with the secretary of the Wellington Racing Club. Owners are also notified that horses nominated as yearlings without names for any event must have their names registered with the A.J.C. at least 30 days prior to the date of the race.
