MONTHLY COUNCIL MEETING. GENERAL BUSINESS DEALT WITH. The monthly meeting of the Hawke’s Bay County Council was held in Napier to-day. Present: Mr. F. B. Logan (chairman), Crs T. Mason Chambers, C. Lassen, G. R. Beamish, N. P. Eriksen, S. Palmer, W. Tucker, C. C. Smith, R. Harding and W. Turner. Leave of absence was granted Cr. S. Bennett. The question of a payment of £lOOO from the Poukawa riding to the general account as a subsidy towards the cost of work on the Te Aute road was referred to a committee consisting of the chairman and Crs. Chambers and Harding. The chairman and Cr. S. Bennett were appointed to confer with the resident engineer, Mr. A. Dinnie, in connection with the council again assuming control of the TangoioTutira road. The Lands and Survey Department wrote asking the council to consent to the closing of certain road reserves near the Beacons, north of Westshore. The matter was referred to the chairman and Cr. C. C. Smith.
