VISIBLE CAR SPEED
Viscount Cecil of Chelwood brought forward an amendment to the Road Traffic Bill in the House of Lords on January 23 to empower the Minister of Transport to call for a speedometer a foot long to be fixed on the rear oi all motor-cars.
The object is to enable policemen tn see at a glance at what speed the car is travelling and take action accordingly. Recently Lord Cecil proposed that trenches should be dug across roads outside towns. and villages to force motorists to slow down before entering. Both propositions met a similar fate and tpe foot speedometer one was negatived without division.
