IMPORTATION OF BRITISH STOCK
N.Z. RESTRICTIONS.
TOURING FARMERS’ CRITICISM
IPer Press Association.)
Woodville, March 8.
The British farmer delegates visited Woodville to-day and were given a hearty reception. They were afforded an opportunity of inspecting the best stock of the district, which was assembled in the recreation ground, and expressed themselves- delighted with what they had seen. They left Masterton.
One of the delegates, Mr. W. A. Canham, secretary of the British National Union, stated that the visitors did not view with pleasure the maintaining of restrictions in New Zealand upon the importation of British stock. He stated that these restrictions had been removed by Australia and South Africa and the greatest care was taken by quarantine regulations to prevent diseased stock frolu being exported. Ho could not understand a loyal country like New Zealand ’maintaining the restrictions.
