TO-DAY’S RACING

NAPIER PARK MEETING AUTUMN FIXTURE CONCLUDES. BELLE STAR MAKES AMENDS. The Napier Park Racing Club's autumn meeting is being concluded at Greenmeadows to-day in beautiful weather, there being a very large attendance of the public. The grounds were in good order while the track was all that could be desired. Results up to going to press were—

Zippor was the first to show out from Essential, Rakauponga and Crown Emblem. Over the first fence the order was the same, while passing the stand the first time Zippor was still leading from Crown Emblem, Essential. Rakauponga and Red Bank. Down the back the order remained'the same, with King’s Jest coming up on the outside. Rounding the far bend Red Bank had overhauled Zippor. and at the half-mile post Rakauponga and Jen were running handy. The next fence saw Zippor and Red Bank jump together, but approaching the home turn Red Bank and Rakauponga were the leading pair from Crown Emblem, Essential and Jen. At the last fence Red Bank was challenged by Rakauponga, with King’s Jest coming up on the outside. An exciting race to the post ensued, in which Rakauponga gained the verdict by a head, Red Bank being half a length away third. Diana’s Lad was fourth. Time, 2.42 2-5.

At the turn Abbey Queen still had charge, with Keen, Manifesto, Cloyne and Right Bower well bunched Approaching the home turn there was no change in the order. Abbey Queen was still in front when entering the straight from Manifesto and Keen. The favourite now began to make her run, and in the race to the judge’s box had no difficulty in heading off the leaders to win by half a length, Abbey Queen being a length away third. Manifesto was fourth. Time, 1.13 2-5.

Kroflight was left. Star of Gold, Manuiri, and Love Song were first to show out. At the turn Running Over, Jenny Diver, Love Song and Star of Gold formed the leading bunch. Running Over still had charge coming to the home turn from Love Song, Star of Gold. Manuiri, Ruby Step and Merry Cry. Coming into the straight Running Over was still leading from Love Song, with Pakitere now making a run. One hundred yards from home the favourite came up with a great dash to win by a head, Love Song being another head away third. Running Over was close up fourth. Time, 1.1 2-5.

Down the hick H imp steadily increased his advantage. with the order Mountain featb, High Court, Te Awha. Shrewd nnd Singleton. Across the top the favourite was a full length clear cut from Mountain Heath, who help a small advantage over Shrewd, and Star Stranger. Rounding the homo bend Singleton made a great run op to Blimp. The latter, however, remained in the lead to the straight, although the field -was fast closing -n him. Once in line for home it appeared that the issue would he decided between Singleton.
