ENGLAND-NELSON MATCH. [Per Press Association.) Nelson, Dec. 21. To-day is fine after heavy rain late yesterday for the England versus Nelson match.- The covered wicket was not affected; the outfield is slow. With the overnight score of five wickets for 131, Eden (35) and Hawkes (0) faced Nicholls and Barrett. In the second over Eden went l.b.w. to' Barrett without adding to the score. The same bowler clean bowled R. Newman in the same over. J. Newman was another victim to Barrett in the third over and with the hallowing hall he skittled Searell. Nine wickets were down for 140 at noon.

WELLINGTON PLUNKET SHIELD TEAM. (Per Press Association.) Wellington, Dec. 21. Ths Plunket Shield team to represent Wellington against Canterbury, commencing next Saturday, comprises Lowry. Dempster, James, Bad'ock, McGirr, Henderson, Airey, Lamason. Mackenzie, Lambert and Hope. Among those not available were McLeod, Foley, Hollings and Worker.

In the Sheffield Shield match against Queensland, Victoria in the second innings made 168 for five wickets (Ponsford 3, Ryder 4, a’Beckett 56, Riggs 79 (not out). Thurlow took two wickets for 77, and Hurwood two for 42. Victoria won by five wickets. Thurlow’s excellent bowling has created a good impression. He is being talked of as a test possibility.
