NAPIER MARDI GRAS

THE QUEEN ELECTION. POLLING CLOSES TO-NIGHT. The question of who shall take the fascinating trip to Honolulu will be definitely decided to-night, as the polling for the Napier Mardi Gras Queen election closes at 11 o’clock at the Municipal Theatre. The result will be screened with all possible speed after that time. The variations of the polling will be shown from time to time, and a scries of views will bo screened by Mr. Hector Chapman, through the courtesy of the Gaiety Theatre. Messrs. Lockyer’s will provide a varied musical programme. Admission to persons over 16 years of age is by production of an Art Union tickets in the Queen election.

TO-DAY’S RESULTS. To-day’s results show that the Sports Queen has topped 44,000 vote's, while the Workers, who aro waging a very keen fight, have again taken second position, Te Awa now being in third place. Punctually at 11 p.m. the voting will cease, and no cash will be received after that hour. The executive of the Thirty Thousand Club will announce the result of the poll as soon as the figures can be finalised.

Following are the results of competitions run in connection with the cricket queen of the Napier Mardi Gras:—Christmas cake, Mrs. E. C. Pirie; tea cosy, Mrs. Loader; box of sweets, Mr. G. Prater; doll, Miss B. Wrightson; dressing table set, Miss Chegwidden; Christmas cake, Miss Hannigan. The following competitions held in connection wtih the Sports Queen at the shop day yesterday have been docidedf—Clock, P. Robson; ham, J. Cameron; picture, Miss Houlahan (Hastings).
