BATHING TRAGEDY
TWO BOYS LOSE THEIR LIVES. FATHER’S ATTEMPT AT RESCUE (United Frees Association—By CableCopyright.) (Received 21, 10.25 a.m.) Sydney, Dec. 21. A tragic affair occurred at Kempsey. W. Mainey’s two sons, aged ten and seven, got into difficulties when paddling in the Macleay river; their father dashed to the rescue, brought one out and placed him on a sand bank and returned for the second boy, but was unable to find him. Upon coming back for the first boy he found that he had been washed into deep water again and drowned. Both bodies were recovered.
