ilt the Supreme Court at Auckland Mr Justice Smith sentenced Leonard James Monk to one year’s hard labour on a charge of forgery., He said that in view of the accused's long list of previous convictions he would have to treat him ng a criminal character. Eleanor Benson Platt and William Platt appeared 10l sentence on a charge or making a false declaration for their marriage, the girl being under age. She was ordered to come up for sentence if called upon, and her husband was given six months’ probation. —Press Association,
