FAREWELL TEA

A DELIGHTFUL PARTY. (By “Stella.”) On Wednesday afternoon, at “Hillington,” Havelock North, Mrs Herbert Coleman gave a most delightful party for Mrs C. O. Tanner, who is leaving Havelock North to live in Auckland. Unfortunately the rain came down in torrents, and so the guests were unable to wander round the attractive garden; however, everyone thoroughly enjoyed their afternoon in the house and the large living-room and drawing-room were charmingly decorated with masses of roses and sweet peas. Tea, sandwiches, delicious cake, and strawberries and cream were much appreciated.. Mrs Coleman and Mrs Tanner received the guests in the hall, Mrs Coleman wearing a most becoming frock of figured crepe-do-chine, in apricot shades, Lind a large black picture hat Mrs Tanner wore black crepe-de-chine. with an overdress of figured ninon in brown and pinks, and a pretty black hat. Mrs Swinburn wore black, and a becoming black hat. Mrs Denton Tanner, smart navyblue coat and skirt, and a pretty blue hat. Mrs Lucas (Palmerston North), dark blue and red, and a red hat to tone. Mrs C. Gordon, blue frock and coat to match and a blue hat. Mr s M. Go.don wore a pretty shade of green am. a hat to match. Mrs Flunk Gordon, navy-blue and white and a small navy-blue hat. Mrs Mason Chambers, navy and biscuit toned crepe-de-chine, and a navy hat. Mrs Bernard Chambers, smart dark blue frock and a hat to tone. Mrs B -bon Williams, black crepe de-chine ensemble, and a black hat. Mrs Sunderland, apple-green georgette. and a hat to match. Mrs Selwyn Chambers, wine coloured ninon, and a large black has. Mrs David Ritchie, smart grey frock with a navy-blue hat. Mrs Adam Bell, figured crepe-de-chine in rose tones, and large black hat. with a coloured velvet bow. Mrs F. Faulkner, pretty frock of blue, and oyster coloured straw hat. Mrs Simcox, black frock, and a white posy, with a black hat. Mrs W MacKenzm, nttractive dress of figured ninon in beige colours, and a black bat. Others present included: Mr and Mrs J Lane, Mr and Mrs Newcombe, Mr and Mrs Quartle'y, Mrs and Miss Fitzßov.
