CLAIMS IN CHINA
COMPENSATION FOR BRITISH SUBJECTS. LARGE SUMS LAID ASIDE; (British Official Wireless.) (Received 14, 11.30 a.m.) Rugby, Nov. 13. The National Government of China has* agreed to place the sum of 68,000 dollars (or about £6,500) at the disposal of two commissioners, one to be appointed by tho British Government and one by the Chinese Government, who will jointly scrutinise tho outstanding claims for losses sustained by British subjects at Chinkiang in 1927, when the British Concession was overrun by Chinese troops. The claims arc to be limited to direct losses sustained by British subjects and tho total payments made arc not to exceed 61,000 dollars.
