GALLANT RESCUE
NURSE SAVED FROM DROWNING (Per Press Association.) Dunedin, Nov. 14. A young woman named Calder, a nurse, had a narrow escape from drowning while swimming at St. Clair beach. When 100 yards out she was seen to throw her arms up, signalling for help. Richard Coxon swam out and got hold of the young woman, but could make no headway against the undertow. Ivan Turnbull swam to his assistance with a life line, against a strong current and the three got ashore in an exhausted, state. Miss Calder, on recovering, said that she would have been drowned but for the youths’ promptness and courage.
