A Cologne Tragedy.—A message from Cologne states that a woman and her two daughers and a son-in-law were sentenced to terms ranging from two to ten years for murdering her husband, whose tyranny so incensed the womenfolk that they persuaded the son-in-law to shoot him while sleeping. Razor Slashing.— Razor slashings have become so frequent in Sydney and the suburbs that hardly a day passes without a victim being received in hospital. Arthur Mefret was last night attacked at Stanmore and twelve stitches had to be inserted in a five-inch gash in his neck. Fire in Shanghai: The largest Chinese printing works in China valued at several million dollars caught fire yesterday morning. It was situated outside the foreign settlement. It was only attended by the Chinese brigade, which duly arrived on the spot and raised the question of non-pay-ment of arrears of salary, refusing to do hand's turn. The fire burned for an hour and a-half until a settlement was reached. The brigade is now busy extinguishing the fire.
