Vol. 5), by Pride of Newton (12280). This young stallion was a very valuable member of the recently dispersed Maraekakaho Stud. His sire, Bonnie Dene, has had a very successful career in the Moore-Hunter Stud and has left a large number of championship winners. His dam, Bessie Salisbury, goes back to Lord Salisbury, a great horse in his day. Bonnie Lad was twice first and champion at Hawke’s Bay Short's and was secoM at Manawatu Royal in 1924.
